A different working technique is required to properly use the ERGO®. The extreme movement needed to apply the mortar to the bricks using the traditional trowel is not longer necessary with the ERGO®. TNO also advises trimming the bricks with the new trowel, though this may be taking things a little too far for the hardened professional. Therefore an alternative to the traditional trowel has been designed, the SMART®. It looks like the traditional version but the handle is placed a little bit more forward, which means that less effort is needed to use the trowel while the technique remains the same.
