Co-creation Event 2009: successful customer-oriented innovation

On 24 June 2009, the first Co-creation Event in the Netherlands will be held at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven. The event is an initiative of RedesignMe, in cooperation with Syntens and numerous co-creation facilitators in the Netherlands. The event will focus entirely on co-creation and open innovation. In half a day, visitors will learn how to make successful customer-oriented innovations for their target group.

Martijn Staal, a consultant at TNO, will give a presentation in which he discusses different types of co-creation applications. The discussion is based on a study of various enterprising co-creation communities in the Netherlands and America, including co-creation initiatives by Nokia, Starbucks, KLM, ABN Amro and Robeco. The presentation will also cover the goals that organisations can achieve through co-creation and the business models that can be used for that purpose.

Innovating with all parties

In the co-creation process, external groups are involved in developing new and improved products and services. In the past 2 years, co-creation has been successfully used by large companies such as Dell and Sara Lee. More recently, other types of organisation have begun to make use of co-creation, including cultural organisations and businesses in the SME and public sectors. This is giving rise to many questions regarding how co-creation can be used and which organisations could benefit from it.
