TNO aims to contribute to making our future means of transport safer, cleaner and more efficient. Research and development of automotive systems and components is our core business. We concentrate on a number of themes. In these areas we belong to the world's top R&D institutions, with a number of the worlds top automotive companies among our clients.
The European Commission wants by 2010 traffic to be cleaner and safer than it is now. We are already working to meet standards such as EURO6, that will be applicable from 2012 onwards. Our focus is on sustainable powertrains (hybrid car systems, engines with after-treatment systems) and integral car safety (chassis control and advanced driver assistance systems) for both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles.
Using modelling (computer), we are able complete the entire process from concept to tested and validated prototype very quickly. We deliver more than paper and figures. We go as far as demonstrating working systems in the real world. Our models, simulation tools and test facilities are top quality.
