European Microwave Week 2017

From 8 to 13 October, Nuremberg is hosting the 20th edition of the European Microwave Week (EuMW). TNO is present at the EuMW which provides access to the very latest products, research and initiatives in the microwave sector. It also offers you the opportunity for face-to-face interaction with those driving the future of microwave technology.

Bringing industry and academia together, European Microwave Week 2017 is a SIX day event, including three cutting edge conferences and one exciting trade and technology exhibition featuring leading players from across the globe. The 20th European Microwave Week combines:

  • three major conferences
  • associated workshops
  • tailored courses and seminars for industrialists, academics and researchers
  • leading international trade show

On 11 October, Frank van den Bogaart (TNO), as EUMA board member, organises the special event The 2017 Defence, Security & Space Forum with the subject: Internet of Space. TNO is involved in various activities during the EuMW, including chairman/moderator of a number of paper sessions. Furthermore, TNO has a contribution to:

Papers

  • Paper “Design of a Ka-Band Sparse Array Antenna for Spaceborne SAR Applications” by Dave Bekers.
  • Paper “Design and Testing of a Polarimetric X-Band Antenna for Avionic Weather Radar” by Roland Bolt.
  • Paper “Spatial Filtering Frequency Selective Surface for Wide-Angle Scanning Phased Arrays” with co-authors Stefania Monni, Frank van Vliet en Christine Yepes.
  • Paper “gesture recognition” with a simple radar which is also demonstrated at the TNO Stand.

Workshops

  • Huib Visser van TNO/Holst has a contribution in the workshop Wireless Energy Transfer.
  • Frank van Vliet is co-organising a Workshop together with Fraunhofer “Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Systems – Status and Trends”.
