TU Delft | Delft • 08 Feb 2018

TNOer Maciej Mikulski will be keynote speaker at the seminar Alternative maritime fuels and ship emissions, hosted by TU Delft on 8 February 2018.

TNO’er Maciej Mikulski will be keynote speaker at the seminar Alternative maritime fuels and ship emissions, hosted by TU Delft on 8 February 2018.

The seminar is jointly organised by TU Delft, CIMAC (the International Council on Combustion Engines) and IMarEST (Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology).

From a combustion engine perspective, Dr. Ir. Maciej Mikulski will address the technical challenges related to the maritime application of methanol as an alternative fuel for shipping.

In the last year, Mikulski has investigated the possibilities of using methanol to drastically reduce air emission in shipping, together with the Maritime Knowledge Center and TU Delft, with support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs in the Netherlands. In the final public report they argue that possibilities of using methanol offers new opportunities for zero-emission ships.
