We focus on nine societal areas.
TNO cooperates with companies, the public sector and other organisations, to apply our knowledge and expertise with and for others.
We develop knowledge not for its own sake, but for practical application.
TNO offers you the chance to do groundbreaking work and help customers and society with innovative, practical and smart solutions.
On our TNOTIME platform you can find blogs, interviews and background stories. Discover the field of TNO captured in photographs, animations, video and text. Share interesting articles and powerful infographics, or download whitepapers.
Are you a Master or PhD student in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Systems & Control, Automotive or Artificial Intelligence, and are you passionate about Automotive technologies?
Prepare yourself to be challenged! We invite you to join the inhouse day at the automotive department where we want to see your creativity and technical skills put into play while working in multi-disciplinary teams.
During this challenge you will need to innovate in unexpected ways and to find potential where others don't even dare to look. Furthermore, your marketing abilities will be put to test.
At the Automotive department we work on complex problems, like:
By 2030 the Netherlands can reduce the number of traffic casualties by 25%. This saves society 2.5 billion euros per year. TNO contributes to this aim by boosting the introduction of smart vehicle technology and cooperative systems. This is reflected as halving the traffic jams in the Netherlands, relieving the environment, and creating opportunities for Dutch companies.
Furthermore, the emissions of greenhouse gases and fuel consumption by transport must be halved during the coming 15 years. TNO helps to make this happen by developing clean vehicle technology and intelligent transport systems, supporting the implementation of new technology such as electric drive and biofuels, among others, and by advising on legislation and policy.
During the TNO Automotive Inhouse Day the departments of Power Train and Integrated Vehicle Safety challenge you to come up with a creative solution for a complex problem that is typical for the work we do at TNO. You will get to know the experts, check out the test facilities and work together as a team to provide a solution for the case. Can you rise up to the challenge?
