The Netherlands Trial assessed five socio-technical solutions designed to improve current crisis management capabilities by addressing shortcomings in three specific areas:
With a strict selection process, the following five innovative Crisis Management solutions were chosen for this assessment: 3DI from Nelen & Schuurmans, KEEPOPERATIONAL from DLR, CrisisSuite from MerlinCrisis, HUMLOG from the University of Münster , SIM-CI from SIM-CI.
Practitioners from the police, fire service, military, local authority, water and electricity utilities, The Hague’s public transport system and several international organisations, actively participate in this Trial.
DRIVER+ (Driving Innovation in Crisis Management for European Resilience) is a EU funded project, helping Crisis Management practitioners find the best ways to address disasters that require complex responses. DRIVER+ improve the way capability development and innovation management are tackled, by assessing and validating solutions that are addressing the operational needs of crisis management practitioners. A total of four Trials and a Final Demonstration will take place within the project's lifespan. The two first Trials were successfully conducted in Poland and France, the final Trial will take place in Austria in September 2019, and the Final Demonstration in Italy and Poland in November 2019.
TNO is the technical coordinator of the DRIVER+ project, leads the development the technical Test-bed infrastructure and supports the development of the Trial Guidance Methodology. With the effects of climate change and new threads emerging, TNO is happy to support the Dutch government in coping and consistently implementing new solutions to prepare against potential nightmare scenarios.More information
