What will you be doing?
As a trainee/graduate student you focus on CO2 reduction measures for heavy duty transport. Your goal is to determine the total reduction potential in The Netherlands by smartly using various (big) data sources and the physical relations between measures. You work on the development of modules that supplement our models for heavy duty transport in The Netherlands using a bottom-up approach. Your tasks include:
- Modelling the effect of fuel saving measures on the energy efficiency and polluting emissions of the vehicle fleet, and the costs of those measures
- Optimizing fuel saving measures, vehicle usage and route planning
- Validation of models using case-studies with logistics data
- Calculating sensitivities to input-parameters, such as economic growth, sustainable policies and legislation
What do we require of you?
You are pragmatic and want to have influence and impact within TNO. Besides being interested in engine technology and logistics, you want to work in a field closely related to society and the environment, and you are good at data analysis and modelling. Working on sustainable mobility, interpreted from both the technological and the business-side, triggers your enthusiasm. You want to be in charge of your own project, but also like to work together with other people to solve problems and to improve each other’s work. We expect you to be well-structured, analytical and quantitatively oriented. Your communication skills are well-developed, and you are an active listener.
What can you expect of your work situation?
