What will you be doing?

As business developer you are responsible for development and marketing of new value propositions. Based on TNO’s wide variety of technical disciplines and experience you will support West-European companies, industrial clusters and institutions with the transition from a hydrocarbon based to a sustainable energy system. One of your focus areas will be decarbonization of the industry, initial focus on CCS and CCU, but this will broaden quickly. In close cooperation with partners and colleagues you will also advise, develop business cases and a portfolio to help transform research and technology into practical application for the broader West-European energy system.

Key activities:
  • Development of projects and programs aimed at decarbonization of the industry, both bilateral projects as development of programs with consortia;
  • Direct sales to existing TNO customers as well as expanding TNO’s customer base;
  • Work with scientists and engineers to understand where advances in research can be applied to solve challenges being faced by industry;
  • Expand TNO’s industry and partner network.
  • Support the management of the TNO Energy in developing & validating the portfolio of technology propositions.

Your focus will be working in a broad field of energy sciences. Main technology areas:
  • Process & conversions technology
  • Techno-economic process simulation and modelling
  • Systems design & instrumentation
  • Heat and Flow dynamics

What do we require of you?

  • Five to ten years of work experience in a strategic commercial role, with a track record in business-to-business project development, building public-private partnerships and the ability to develop new propositions and sell ‘industry firsts’;
  • Extensive network in the energy (intensive) industry;
  • Demonstrated affinity with a research and technology-oriented environment;
  • A commercial mindset and strong negotiating, networking, and coaching skills;
  • A university degree in the field of chemistry technology, supplemented with commercial experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to operate both independently as in diverse teams;
  • Experience in the entire business development trajectory, from gathering initial market insight to closing sales;
  • Ability to build and validate (new) market propositions;
  • International experience and orientation is considered a plus;
  • Fluent both in English and Dutch, additional language skills in German (& Spanish) are a plus;
  • Willingness to travel.

Application process

You can apply till the 26th of May. The first round of interviews is scheduled for the 6th of June. The second round of interviews is scheduled for the 13th of June. The process comprises at least two (selection) rounds. After a positive selection, we will finish off the process by discussing terms and conditions of employment. We try to complete the interviews and assessment within 4 weeks.
