What will you be doing?
Industrial process heat makes up two-thirds of industrial energy demand and largely originates from fossil-fuel combustion. The creation of a sustainable industrial heat system would substantially reduce industry emissions. This is why, at TNO, we drive the development of sustainable energy technologies to support industry. Help us develop and market our value propositions throughout Europe and contribute to the industry’s energy transition!
What will be your role?
Developing and marketing our value propositions, you will primarily focus on the decarbonization of industrial heat systems. As a business developer, you will support West European companies, industrial clusters and institutions with their transition from a hydrocarbon-based to a sustainable energy system. Key activities include the development of programmes related to sustainable industrial heat, direct sales to TNO’s expanding customer base and expansion of TNO’s industry and partner network. In addition, you will support the management of TNO Energy Transition with developing and validating the propositions portfolio.
The role offers the perfect balance between autonomy and teamwork. You feel comfortable working closely with partners and TNO scientists, engineers and business development colleagues, all of whom are experts in energy sciences. Together, you will identify industry’s challenges and potential scientific and technological solutions.
What do we require of you?
You have found your niche in the energy intensive industry, in which you have built an extensive network. In this role, your commercial acumen and your negotiating, networking, and coaching skills are key success factors to building successful public-private partnerships, developing new propositions and selling ‘industry firsts’. Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO include:
- 5+ years of work experience in a similar role.
- A Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Experience of working in a research and technology-oriented environment.
- International work experience.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.

You can apply till the 7th of March 2021. The first round of interviews is scheduled on the 18th of March 2021. The process comprises at least two (selection) rounds.
