What will be your role?

The researchers and business developers within our unit CEE (Circular Economy & Environment) and ICT rely on your legal knowledge and skills. You support the organisation in the drafting of highly complex and/or high-risk contracts. In addition, you act as a sounding board and advisor for the project leaders and managers of the units in question. You seek to strike a good balance between commercial opportunities and risks. You analyse the conditions for both risks and opportunities, and help to draw up contracts and proposals ensuring that they comply with the Dutch and European legislation and regulations as well as the TNO guidelines and procedures. You work on the basis of your expertise and ensure that the business representatives know where to find you and risks are properly assessed and (where necessary) mitigated.

You are a member of the Intellectual Property & Contracting department, which allows you to tap into the versatility of TNO to the full. Every project is different and therefore requires customised legal work. We have different teams for different business units. In the long run, his flexibility will certainly allow you to broaden your horizons. At first, you will work exclusively from home. However, as soon as it is once again permitted, you will regularly work at the locations where our research takes place: Utrecht, Delft and The Hague .

How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.

What we expect from you

You are a lawyer with a wide range of interests who enjoys complex projects and technological innovations. In this framework, you proactively involve the right people and keep a close eye on all interests, both those of your colleagues in the TNO units and the organisation as a whole. While seeking a balance between those different interests, you act in a flexible yet steadfast manner. This makes you a valued sounding board for our business.
What else are we looking for in the successful candidate for this role?
  • A university-level education, with at least a Master’s degree in Dutch law.
  • 3 years of experience in drafting and reviewing complex contracts, preferably for public-private partnerships and intellectual property;
  • Technical affinity;
  • An excellent command of both Dutch and English (both at least level B1).

What you’ll get in return

The work is challenging and varied. And with lots of opportunities, because at TNO, you are to a large extent in charge of your career.
