What will be your role?
In the Netherlands, the energy transition is working at full strength to achieve a carbon-free energy system by 2050. Offshore wind energy plays the lead role in this scenario, as the major share of renewable electricity in the Netherlands will be produced by offshore wind farms. TNO Wind Energy focuses on the development of offshore and other types of wind energy. Reducing costs and improving the efficiency of wind farms are just as important as integrating offshore wind energy into the energy system and the ecology. Your task, together with the research manager, is to create the conditions in which the team will have the greatest possible impact on the energy transition through research and innovation projects. This combination means that your work will involve matching the project-based demand for knowledge and competences with the provision of these by the team. In doing so, you’ll maintain a good balance between optimal results and the personal and professional development of our employees.
The Wind Energy department consists of some 55 researchers, divided over 2 locations: Petten and Delft. The team has experienced steady growth and consists of a range of enthusiastic professionals with backgrounds in aerospace, physics and technical physics, materials science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and measurement & control engineering.
