The energy transition is more urgent than it has ever been – for the climate, but also to reduce our dependence on gas and oil supplies. On top of this, generating energy locally offers tremendous economic opportunities to the business community contributing to its generation. Research cooperative Solliance sees many opportunities for solar energy with new types of solar cells and circular applications on all imaginable surfaces – on buildings, but also in and alongside roads, on cars, in combination with agriculture and horticulture, and on water. As a director, you’ll bring together knowledge institutions, public authorities, and the business community to mutually strengthen each other and optimally take advantage of these opportunities. In this way, you’ll contribute to the development and application of the latest solar technology.
What will be your role?
As the public face of Solliance, you’ll represent us in international platforms and organisations and at symposia. In doing so, you’ll position Solliance as the foremost partner for solar energy technology. Moreover, you’ll be the point of contact for regional and European partnerships, private companies, and public authorities. Supported by a team of enthusiastic people from our partners, you’ll give direction to our research agenda. You’ll also monitor the agreed-upon level of partners' contributions and prepare the content of the periodic meetings with them.
Where you work from is up to you. You can choose from different locations, such as the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, the Diepenbeek Campus in Hasselt, the TU/e Campus in Eindhoven, the Energy & Health Campus in Petten, or one of our other partner universities. Wherever you go, the people you’ll work with will share your ambition of translating scientific solar energy research into high-tech manufacturing methods and applications.
How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.
What we expect from you
Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:
- A university degree, preferably in an exact science such as chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, or another relevant discipline.
- Experience managing projects or programmes, preferably also in an international context.
- Experience in the energy sector, preferably working with solar energy.
What you’ll get in return
On top of this, Solliance allows you to compose a ‘menu’ of employment conditions that align with your personal situation. What you can expect:
- A good pension scheme.
- Travel allowance or a bicycle.
- An extremely professional, innovative working environment in which your colleagues are leading experts in their field.
- Twenty-eight days annual leave and five compensation days under the ‘reduction in working hours’ scheme (ATV, arbeidstijdverkorting) on a full-time basis.
- Flexible working hours and good facilities to work from home.
- The opportunity to attend courses, workshops, and conferences, and, if needed, to receive training and coaching.
- An employer that values and encourages diverse talent.
TNO as an employer
Solliance is a partnership between TNO, imec, and several universities. Over the past ten years, we’ve exclusively focused on thin-film technology, as you can see on our website. We look forward to broadening our scope under your leadership.
At Solliance, we innovate for a sustainable society. Our partners, who shape all our work and successes, are at our core. You’ll work for the partnership, but will be employed by one of our partners. We promote an inclusive work environment in which you can be yourself – whatever your story and unique qualities. The combination of our unique strengths and perspectives is precisely how we’re able to develop innovations that make a real difference to society.
