Circular Plastics Program The aim of the program is to reduce the use of crude oil for plastics production by 80 PJ and the emission of CO2 by 4 Mton before 2050. This is approximately 15% of the energy and the CO2 emissions of all plastics produced in the Netherlands. The program focusses on quality of recycled polymers, new forms of recycling and circular design of value chains for various plastics. The program is executed in close cooperation between several groups within TNO in e.g., Delft, Utrecht, Petten, and Eindhoven as well as several partners outside TNO.

What will be your role?

One of the growing subjects within the group is the Circular Plastics program (and specifically within SPES). This program works on the reduction of the carbon footprint of plastics. Our SPES team in Delft focuses on the development of the Möbius dissolution technology for recycling of plastics. The team’s goal is to recover not only the polymer(s), but also the valuable additives. Within our team, you will be working side by side with other scientists on the experimental validation of dissolution processes and the scale-up towards a kilograms/hour pilot plant.

How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.
