Are you a team player with in-depth knowledge of security organisations and a drive to make the Netherlands safer? Then you’re just the person we’re looking for! The pleasant and driven Surveillance, Security & Counter Terrorism (BBT) team, part of the Networked Organisations (NO) research group, is looking for reinforcement. Both people with limited experience and those with more experience are invited to apply. In our daily work, we are committed to enabling our clients (such as the Ministry of Justice and Security, Ministry of Defence, municipalities and implementing organisations like the police and the Royal Netherlands Military Constabulary) to optimally prepare their organisations and people for the future. We actively seek opportunities to apply new technological developments, build up unique expertise on the security domain and provide advice in areas such as risk management, surveillance and security, and crime fighting. In this way, we contribute to a safer society. In addition to projects in the BBT team, you can also do projects within the domains of crisis management, critical infrastructure, cybersecurity and strategic analyses. These are the other teams in the Networked Organisations research group.
What will be your role?
Responding to the issues within the security domain requires in-depth knowledge of the causes, consequences, strategies and measures to deal with them. We have knowledge of how people, organisations, processes and technology are connected in complex organisations and how multidisciplinary network organisations function. We study how information spreads through networks, how risks and vulnerabilities arise from dependencies within networks and how decisions are made. We use our insights to make the partners in the security domain more agile, more resilient and ready for the future.
How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.
What we expect from you
- You have experience in working in projects and conducting research and are network- and client-oriented, as well as aware of internal and external developments. You are a creative team player and are capable of making a success of several projects at the same time;
- You have completed a university programme in a relevant field such as security science, security studies, criminology, sociology, psychology or (technical) business administration and have an affinity with technology;
- You are a strong investigator, based on your research skills and excellent communication skills (both written and oral and in both Dutch and English);
- You have knowledge of and experience with the security domain (police organisation, KMar).
We ask for slightly more from applicants with more work experience:
- More than three years relevant experience. You have in-depth knowledge of technology (such as artificial intelligence, big data, autonomous systems), innovation, security and risk management;
- Your conceptual thinking, analytical skills and scientific curiosity are recognised externally through your work experience and successful projects;
- Knowledge of and/or experience with writing research proposals for European projects is an advantage. We can also guide you in this;
- You monitor the quality of colleagues’ work and provide feedback. You have good communication skills with clients and their environment and are able to translate their questions and complex project objectives into concrete solutions. You like to connect different areas of expertise and therefore know how to offer structural solutions to complex issues and subsequently implement them or help others to do so.
What you’ll get in return
TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:
