What will you be doing?

You will participate in a team of scientists and research engineers at Brightlands Materials Center at the Brightlands Chemelot Campus. Your tasks will involve the 3D printing applications of optimized extruded polymer composites. You will be involved in characterizing the structure and composition of the as-extruded and printed materials to further analyze their mechanical performance. The investigation of 3D printing parameters for the optimized extruded composites will be the core activity of the internship in hand. Microstructure and mechanical properties of printed parts will also be assessed to achieve optimal strength. You will present progress and planning on a weekly basis. This internship will be supervised by the Additive Manufacturing and Lightweight Automotive research programs.

What do we require of you?

We are looking for students (BSc) with a background in the fields of mechanical engineering or materials science, that have a hands-on mentality. Previous experience/Affinity with working in a laboratory environment on at least one of the processing or additive manufacturing experience is required. Finally, good communication skills in written and spoken English are expected. The internship period should last at least 6 months and will start in February 2021 at the earliest.
