What will you be doing?

Understanding and controlling battery degradation is very important to the high market update of electrified vehicles. Battery ageing in itself is a very complex process, and much effort is currently focused on understanding it. Establishing ageing models for a specific battery chemistry is a time intensive activity. With the current dynamics of the field, where new generations of batteries are continuously being introduced on the market, there is much need of methodologies capable of describing the battery ageing process very fast.

In the past, TNO has developed testing and modelling capabilities toward battery ageing. Within this challenging project, both theoretical and applied components are included. Methodologies around accelerated battery ageing will be investigated. The results of this assessment will support the expansion of the existing research test setup to provide accelerated ageing capabilities. The results of the work will be documented in a report format.

You will be working in a team of experts in the field of predictive powertrain control and battery modelling and state estimation. During both your internship or graduation project, you will be provided with guidance and supervision from highly recognized scientists.
