What will you be doing?
Deep learning has become a popular technique for the recognition of objects in images. Recently, localization of objects in point clouds has become an active research area. Impressive progress is being made on public datasets. These point clouds are typically from road side scenery. For instance they can be used in self driving cars or 3D object detection. However non-scientific datasets are typically not annotated in fine detail.
The research question is: how to detect objects of interest in Lidar point clouds where the annotations are limited in number and/or accuracy. This may help to improve the speed and efficiency by which these datasets can be analyzed.
You can start your internship at any moment from October 2019 onwards, for a period of 6 to 12 months. Keep in mind that the start date will be at least 3 months after your application due to an obligatory security screening process (see the remark below at ‘Application process’).
What do we require of you?
- You are in the final stages of your degree in artificial intelligence, computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering or a similar degree and have some track record in the field of computer vision.
- You have experience in programming in Python and deep learning frameworks such as Keras/TensorFlow/PyTorch.
- You are pragmatic and focused on making things work.
- Next to technical expertise we value communication skills and a client-oriented, results-driven attitude to add value to our clients and the Dutch society as a whole.
