What will you be doing?
Machine learning has many important applications in wind energy. The most important cannot be solved by just applying the standard tools (e.g. random forests, neural networks).
Reconstructing wind velocity fields from Lidar data is one such area. The supervisor has over the past 2 years developed algorithms using Gaussian Process regression to predict wind fields from Lidar measurements. The time has come to create a robust Python toolbox to deliver this capability efficiently for several different end users in wind energy and beyond.
What do we require of you?
- Degree in statistics, preferably with some training in Bayesian reasoning.
- Eager problem-solver, persistent in the face of challenges.
- Enthusiasm for sustainable energy, particularly wind energy.
- Good programming skills in Python. Some understanding of software development would be beneficial.
