What will you be doing?

At TNO we developed several routes for electrochemical production of various chemicals from bio-based sources. There is a need of upscaling of those production routes and demonstration of continuous production. We need you to assist us in this interesting task. During your internship you will focus on modelling of an electrochemical reactor and 3D electrodes. With guidance, you will also propose solutions how to optimize such reactor and the electrochemical conversion process, work with experienced process engineers and electrochemists. The model will be validated experimentally. The internship will be performed in close collaboration with Dr.ir. J.W. Haverkort (TU Delft). 

The project includes a literature study and reactor modelling (with one of the tools: COMSOL, MATLAB, Python). This internship will last for a minimum of 6 months, in case of a master thesis project it will last 9 months. 

What do we require of you?

  • You are enthusiastic and eager to learn about electrochemistry;
  • You are interested in chemical reactor modelling and have affinity to modelling tasks;
  • You can show a great deal of autonomy and have a structured approach in your work;
  • You can preferably start your internship in summer 2019.
