What will you be doing?
Some innovations cannot be driven by a single company, but require an industry-wide movement. This is a common occurrence for consultants at the TNO cluster Interoperable Data Science, who work with technologies such as Linked Data: a methodology for convenient data exchange between parties – provided that those parties can agree on a common standard. To achieve such agreement, TNO often takes on the role of mediator. Consequently, during your internship we can show you practical examples of such cooperations between parties, and give you an impression of the variation in size, complexity, and intensity of those cooperations.
The question for you is how this mediator role of TNO can evolve, especially with regard to the rise of DAO technology. Underpinned by blockchain technology, DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations) offer parties the opportunity to formalize their joint policy in programming code. Could DAOs be used to improve TNO’s mediation services? Might DAOs even be a foundation for TNO to offer new services with? And how can TNO’s customers be convinced of the potential added value of DAOs? We will support you to develop answers to these and other questions in the course of your internship.
What do we require of you?
You have a background in both IT and business.
You are enthousiastic about blockchain technology. (Note you will not be required to develop your own software).
You are able to decide autonomously on your research methodology, and you can explain these choices to others.
You enjoy sharing in the day-to-day events (and the social events!) of the Data Science department.
What can you expect of your work situation?
You will be a member of the Data Science department. Our department’s expertise centers around structured and unstructured data, data infrastructure, and data governance, with a focus on data analytics and semantic technologies. In a world where everyone and everything is connected, complex data and big data solutions are increasingly relevant. Our core mission is to give meaning to this data, so that businesses and governments are able to manage their data and to make better, data-driven decisions from a societal and economical point of view.
What can TNO offer you?
You want to work on the precursor of your career; an internship gives you an opportunity to take a good look at your prospective future employer. TNO goes a step further. It’s not just looking that interests us; you and your knowledge are essential to our innovation. That’s why we attach a great deal of value to your personal and professional development. You will, of course, be properly supervised during your work placement and be given the scope for you to get the best out of yourself. Naturally, we provide suitable internship compensation.
