What will you be doing?
Additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D-printing, provides excellent opportunities for the production of complex and customised products with high freedom of design. Currently, AM is still progressing from a method for rapid prototyping, to a method for rapid production of functional parts. This transition has induced a number of challenges for material scientists and engineers, such as the development of printing materials with new and improved functionalities, as well as the customisation of printing processes towards optimised product properties.
You will participate in a small team of scientists and research engineers at Brightlands Materials Center. Depending on the focus of your particular project, your tasks can comprise of material formulation and characterization, investigation of material behavior in relation to a 3D-printing process, or investigation of the printing material to the end product.
What do we require of you?
We are looking for students (BSc or MSc) with a background in chemistry, chemical engineering or material science, that have a hands-on mentality. Experience with working in a laboratory environment is required. Affinity to polymer chemistry and material science is a plus. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are expected. The internship period should last at least 4 months.
