Additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D-printing, provides excellent opportunities for the production of complex and customised products with high freedom of design.
What will you be doing?
You will participate in a team of scientists and research engineers at Brightlands Materials Center. Among others your tasks can comprise of material formulation and characterization, investigation of material behaviour in relation to a 3D-printing process or investigation of the influence of the printing process onto the end product. Moreover you will make use of CAD software and numerical simulation tools for part design as well as prediction of properties. In particular you will be working with FFF (fused filament fabrication) technology with the aim of increasing mechanical strength and obtain additional functionalities within a printed part.
What do we require of you?
We are looking for students (BSc or MSc) with a background in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or material science, that have a hands-on mentality. Experience with working in a laboratory environment is required. Affinity to polymer chemistry and material science is a plus. Good communication skills in written and spoken English are expected. The internship period should last at least 4 months.
