Would you like to contribute to the energy transition in the Netherlands? By taking part in the MIDDEN project, you play a key role in the sustainable transition to zero emissions of the Dutch energy-intensive industry by 2050. The internship is open to masters students from: Utrecht University, Copernicus Institute of Sustainable Development, Faculty of Geosciences; TU Delft, Faculty of Technology, Policy and Management; Radboud University, Faculty of Science; Eindhoven University of Technology, Industrial Engineering and Innovation Sciences. Other university master tracks can be considered upon request.
What will be your role?
In the past years, TNO and PBL have teamed up with universities through the MIDDEN project to create a robust knowledge base for decarbonisation options in the Dutch energy-intensive industry, supporting the implementation of the Paris Agreement. This internship will contribute to the continuous development of the MIDDEN knowledge base, particularly in the topic on energy efficiency in industry. In this internship, you will be intensively trained to analyse and derive energy efficiency options and potential for specific industries, on a plant level and at subsector level. You will directly consult, under guidance, companies and experts from TNO, PBL and universities on energy efficiency.
The fixed duration of the MIDDEN internship is six months. After successful completion of the internship, you will receive a certificate of ‘MIDDEN expert’ and two years of access to MIDDEN events.

What we expect from you
You will be based at TNO Energy Transition Studies (Amsterdam). TNO supports a hybrid way of working whereas upon agreement with your supervisor, you will work certain days at the office and the other days from home. During the internship you will work approximately three days per week at the office. The general internship remuneration and conditions of TNO apply to the internship. You will possibly have to sign a confidentiality agreement. The anticipated starting date is September 2022.
