To reach high performance, Deep Learning models rely on large amounts of annotated training data. To circumvent this need, methods using weakly labeled data are proposed. Within this project we would like to investigate whether we can estimate the reliability of the weakly labeled data, and how we use such a reliability measure to improve the quality of the final model.

What will be your role?

The state of the art models for image classification and object detection are based on Deep Learning models. To reach high performance, such Deep Learning models rely on large amounts of annotated training data. To circumvent this need for a large amount of training data, methods using weakly labeled data are proposed. It can be expected that within these weak labels there are correct labels as well as incorrect – out of distribution – labels.

Within this project we would like to investigate whether we can estimate the reliability of the weakly labeled data, and how we use such a reliability measure to improve the quality of the final model.

The work will be part of an ongoing project aiming at learning with less labeled data. Preferably, the result will be published at an international conference.
