What will you be doing?

Recently, softwarization of communication networks has proved itself an essential element in solving communication network complexity. Data plane programmability plays an important role in the softwarized networks community, improving the flexibility of matching, altering and forwarding packets and data while maintaining high throughput. Since it complements the control plane programmability (found in SDN), it is regarded as the next big step in network infrastructures and has attracted major vendors, providers and telco operators (e.g. Cisco, Google, VMware, AT&T). This project will create room to learn about the architectures and specifications related to data plane programmability and its acceleration as well as identify the use cases interesting for TNO partners and customers. Equally important is to get hands-on experience with the hardware and software development kits and make an actual implementation (proof-of-concept) of the selected use case.


What do we require of you?

  • You are working on a Master’s degree on computer science (or related).
  • You would like to work on networking and ICT security.
  • You are familiar with information security, experience with programming and IP networks technology.
  • You are analytical and you are capable of working autonomously.
  • You have good communication skills and you are creative and innovative.

The department of Cyber Security & Robustness (CSR) employs approximately 50 professionals who work on issues related to the security of IT networks, systems and smartphones to help our clients and associates take charge of their ICT security, detect fraud, review their architecture or develop a security design for new systems. The division is located at two locations: Groningen and The Hague.
