What will you be doing?
The department of Climate, Air & Sustainability has several projects that focus on options to increase the circularity of the use of plastics, keeping the polymers in the loop and not lose them to energy recovery. Furthermore, in the quest for reducing the consumption of fossil fuels electrification of transport is growing. Batteries will play an important role and here also better recycling is needed to close the material loops. The focus is on the environmental performance of these new technologies like chemical recycling and improved mechanical recycling. As the stakeholders will change due to these new and improved technologies the social impacts may also change. Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) is an upcoming method which will broaden the sustainability assessment to include the social aspect.
This internship gives you the opportunity to broaden the scope of sustainability by including the social dimension in relation to the Circular Economy.
What do we require of you?
- You are a Master student who is interested in sustainability and the Circular Economy and want to explore the social impacts of state-of-the-art recycling technologies;
- You are enthusiastic about working on a project that is continuously evolving and combines various disciplines to increase the circularity of plastics and batteries;
- To work closely with our sustainability team, but also thrive working independently.
