What will you be doing?
We are looking for a student to develop a visualization tool for automated driving vehicles. Background: At the Automotive Campus in Helmond TNO is developing software for automated driving vehicles. The developed software is used in pilots and demonstrated to (potential) customers. To demonstrate how the software works an intuitive visualization tool with overlays of detected and interpreted objects is needed. The visualization will be used in live-demonstrations, to show graphically how the intelligent vehicle interprets its environment and to show its own intention. The first application your tool will be used for its automated valet parking.
The thesis consists of two parts:
- Inventory: We ask you to create an overview of available visualization methods (intern and extern) in the ROS framework for the visualization of detected objects. the outcome will be an overview of suitable plug-ins to be used for the development of the tool itself.
- Development: We ask you to develop a tool (inclusive documentation) by which detected objects (like: cars, cyclist, road layout, ...) can be visualized as an overlay on a camera-view. We are looking for a parameterizable solution, usable for different types of camera's and objects. TNO will supply a defined output architecture and message set as starting point.
