What will you be doing?
You will form part of a small team as part of the public/private funded research project. Your major role is to contribute to the development of modeling languages and analysis tooling for the description of component interfaces. The approach is based on the use of Domain Specific Languages (DSLs). It includes the description of data and timing constraints and the generation of documents, run-time monitors and a simulation environment. The research includes the application of the framework to industrial cases from the domain of high-end interventional X-ray systems. The principles developed, however, will be applicable to multiple domains. Close cooperation with the customer and other team members from TNO-ESI is essential. You will share your experiences and knowledge with other industrial partners, give lectures and, whenever relevant, publish results at scientific conferences. Your responsibilities also include coordination with other staff, such as PhD students and industrial engineers.
What do we require of you?
You have studied Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics at university, preferably at PhD level. You have experience of modelling and analysis techniques used for software development and ideally familiarity with Eclipse, Visual Studio, Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) or similar. You have a strong belief that working at a higher level of abstraction brings benefits to the whole product creation process for complex systems designs. You are keen to further develop these techniques and to help bring them into mainstream use. You enjoy not only creating models of complex functionality but also demonstrating their value and helping others to adopt the approach. You are a goal-oriented, self-driven professional with a strong will to deliver quality results. You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team of TNO-ESI research fellows, industrial and academic partners, and other stakeholders. To obtain the required results, you regularly work at the premises of the customer throughout The Netherlands.
What can you expect of your work situation?
TNO-ESI is a leading research group within the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO). It contributes to society and economy by driving advances in high-tech and embedded systems design at a multidisciplinary level, with a strong shared research programme, dedicated innovation support services and a focused competence development programme. Its key objective is to raise high-tech and embedded system design from a craft to a scientifically based engineering discipline. TNO-ESI works for global technology leaders with research programs that focus on the design of complex high-tech systems. Research programs are tailored to address a variety of application domains, such as microelectronics manufacturing, medical imaging, IC design, high-end printing solutions, digital consumer products, safety & security, etc. These applications are typically characterized by the large-scale and tightly coupled integration of intelligent components and multidisciplinary enabling technologies. Our success is based on delivering high-impact methods, techniques and tools that increase the rate of innovation, both to industry and societal applications. Please refer to www.esi.nl
