What will you be doing?

In your daily work you are concerned with air quality and climate. You specify (customer) questions in the field of measuring and detecting e.g. (ultra) particulate matter, nitrogen, ozone and greenhouse gases. You collect (sensor) data from monitoring networks and measurement campaigns, and are able to analyse and interpret this data correctly.
You brainstorm with us and contribute to a multidisciplinary team of experts in the field of air quality and climate. Together with the entire team you are responsible for the design, (method) development, implementation, data analysis and reporting of the research, thereby contributing to solutions to air quality problems / energy transition / unwanted high deposition etc., problems commonly facing government policymakers.

What do we require of you?

  • You have an education and background in environmental sciences, physics, chemistry or mathematics, meteorology, modelling and/or data analysis (MSc/PhD level).
  • You have experience in research, consultancy and data analysis, preferably in the field of air quality and climate.
  • You have knowledge/experience in the field of (smart) measurement networks, data analysis, data assimilation and the associated technology (big data, sensor networks, AI), and specialise in data analysis or modelling.
  • You have knowledge of instrument development and diffusion modelling.

What can you expect of your work situation?

You will work in the Environmental Modelling, Sensing and Analysis (EMSA) department in Patten. This is a versatile department with knowledge of measurement methods and strategies in the field of chemical analyses, sensors in air and water for gases and particles, and microscopic analyses of solids such as asbestos and production materials. EMSA works in the environmental field as well as in the circular economy.

Application process

You can apply till the 8th of November 2020. The first round of interviews is scheduled on the 19th of November 2020.. The second round of interviews is scheduled for 23rd of November. The process comprises at least three (selection) rounds. First two interview rounds and then an assessment. After a positive selection, we will finish off the process by discussing terms and conditions of employment. We try to complete the interviews and assessment within 4 weeks.
