What will you be doing?

As an ICT (young) professional at TNO, you will assist in projects with a major impact on Dutch society. You will contribute to challenging themes, from energy sustainability and the Internet of Things to national security. No two work days are the same; depending on your specific role and the projects you are assigned to; there are nuances, but research is always your core business. Together with colleagues from a variety of disciplines, you ensure that the competitive strength of Dutch business and society is reinforced, by always staying at least five years ahead of the crowd. With an eye for trends and developments in your discipline, you will be working on the technologies of tomorrow.

All this, you will be doing in a dynamic environment, where you:
  • manage your own development;
  • have every opportunity to get the best out of yourself;
  • can shape your own work day and work time and place independent.
This “open application” is not an actual vacancy, but a possibility to show your interest in a specific field within TNO. When you apply, your CV and cover letter will be reviewed and -in case of a possible match- forwarded to departments which have matching possibilities now or in the (near) future. If there is a match, you will be invited for an interview. If not you will of course be informed.

What do we require of you?

You are an independent, ambitious (young) professional and your personal development has a high priority. You have demonstrably good collaboration skills, especially when there are differing views and ideas within a team. You are able to clearly explain complex theories and technologies. You are entrepreneurial, stress resistant and able to successfully complete projects in a structured fashion within the agreed time span.

As an ICT (young) professional, you have:
  • a Master's degree or PhD in information technology or computer science;
  • GPA  of 7,5 or higher (please attach your grade list);
  • a maximum of three years' work experience (after obtaining your Master's degree or PhD);
At least two of the following:
  • a second Master's degree or PhD;
  • managerial experience;
  • international experience;
  • done volunteer work.

What can you expect of your work situation?

TNO is an independent research organisation whose expertise and research make an important contribution to the competitiveness of companies and organisations, to the economy and to the quality of society as a whole. Innovation with purpose is what TNO stands for. With 3000 people we develop knowledge not for its own sake but for practical application. To create new products that make life more pleasant and valuable and help companies innovate. To find creative answers to the questions posed by society. We work for a variety of customers: governments, the SME sector, large companies, service providers and non-governmental organisations. Working together on new knowledge, better products and clear recommendations for policy and processes. In everything we do, impact is the key. Our product and process innovations and recommendations are only worth something if our customers can use them to boost their competitiveness

What can TNO offer you?

Work enjoyment means something different for each employee. This is why we offer a-la-carte terms and conditions of employment that you can switch around on a monthly basis. Flexible working hours (like 4 days x 9 hours) and different leave schemes mean that you can create a package attuned to your specific wishes.
TNO attaches great value to both your personal and your professional development. Many opportunities exist for you to develop: conferences, courses, workshops, coaching, intervision, mentoring and job rotation. At TNO you can orchestrate your own career.
