What will you be doing?

Your duties will mainly relate to the area of military action. The focus will be on optimisation issues, particularly around the interoperability of (military) systems and networks. You will work on testing concepts of action and technological innovations through simulations/modelling.

You will be part of various multidisciplinary project teams, consisting of employees of the Military Operations Research Group, which are regularly supplemented with employees from other TNO departments or other Dutch or international organisations.

You have an academic degree in a relevant field, such as applied mathematics, informatics, aviation and aerospace engineering, computer science, artificial intelligence, etc.
In addition, you are interested in working with computer networks and have an affinity with the domain of defence.
You are used to working in a structured and organised way. You are also a team player with a highly developed sense of responsibility.

What do we require of you?

  • Application-oriented scientist;
  • Affinity with technology (you especially enjoy finding out how technology works, and can translate this into practice for someone in the field who has to do an operation with it);
  • Affinity with defence;
  • Knowledgeable about and interested in computer networks;
  • Interested in computer communication & protocols (bits & bytes);
  • Ability to program (JAVA), but only to support work aimed at exploring technology (no IT architect);
  • Ability to identify with different perspectives of (defence) users and what they expect from technological resources;
  • Good communication skills, good proficiency in English.
