What will be your role?

The constant evolution of radar systems dramatically increases the volume and quality of data. Signal processing must keep up to extract the information required. Which is why you will be examining, evaluating and implementing the latest signal processing techniques. As a signal processing expert you will transform complex signal processing problems into well-formulated mathematical methodologies. In addition, you quantify platform-dependent performance differences and define optimal processing strategies for newly developed sensor concepts.

As Europe’s leading R&D partner in the field of radar technology, TNO’s Radar Technology department develops anything from complete system concepts and architectures to integrated microwave circuits and antennas. We research and apply novel techniques like compressive sensing, deep learning and even quantum radar technology. In your 60-strong team, radar engineers, software engineers, hardware developers, EM/antenna and other experts come together in an open-minded and relaxed atmosphere to respond to the needs of our clients. Like you, we are driven by a desire to make technological breakthroughs and welcome your ideas!

How do you want to contribute to tomorrow's world? How big can your impact be? Come and work at TNO and envision it.

What we expect from you

You are passionate about adaptive algorithms, machine learning, waveform design, data and array signal processing. And are eager to extend your knowledge in these fields. You will work with people from diverse backgrounds. Which is why you express yourself clearly in Dutch and English when explaining the intricacies of data and signal processing to clients and other stakeholders. Working at the interface between research and applications, you think up creative ideas and enthuse your colleagues and stakeholders to embrace your initiatives.

Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:
  • A Master’s Degree or PhD in electrical engineering, physics or computer science.
  • A scientific background in one or more of these fields: information theory, statistical signal processing, and detection and estimation theory.
  • Intimate knowledge of MATLAB and/or Python.

What you’ll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

Perhaps you would like to grow your career in the direction of commerce or consultancy? Or would you like to become a project manager? Immerse yourself in sustainable innovations? Or carve out a career as a technical expert?
