What will you be doing?

Researchers within the cluster Heat Technology carry out projects on the efficient production and use of thermal energy for future industrial processes. Your focus? As a researcher, you start with the development and integration of thermal components and systems in industrial processes. At the moment a lot of work is done on modeling industrial heat pumps. Your contribution will focus on developing models for components and cycles for industrial heat pumps, use experimental data to validate the models, give input from model simulations to experiments and future experimental setups including full-scale industrial applications.  That is something for us to decide in consultation with one another based on your knowledge and interests.

It will always be the case that you will be working on multiple projects simultaneously, with independence and autonomy being key in that regard. Within the projects, you respond to specific research questions of clients such as end-users in the chemical industry, paper production, food processing, building materials etcetera, equipment manufacturers, system suppliers, process developers, and universities. These parties come to us when specific, specialist knowledge is required, e.g. for the development of high-temperature heat pumps, compact heat storage, and the implementation thereof. These activities are part of projects that also execute experimental programs on new technology. The projects are carried out in close cooperation with industry and other knowledge institutes, in both national and international consortia. You will regularly attend meetings with customers, e.g. to clarify a research question or present results.

Within a project team, you will be actively contributing your thoughts on possible solutions and carrying out research work, drawing on such things as analytical models, numerical models or experiments to this end.  You will analyze and interpret all results stemming from the data and your models in your research work and incorporate these results into a clear report. What do we require of you?

You will be uniquely positioned to independently research Industrial Heat Technology. You come up with new ideas, challenge the status quo and that way contribute to working out new chances and opportunities for innovations in the field. Furthermore, you understand that cooperation with colleagues and external parties is essential for accomplishing objectives. You will also be capable of summarizing the amassed information in precise, clear conclusions. What else do we require from you?
  • An academic degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering or applied physics.
  • Knowledge of thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, and energy technology.
  • Knowledge of research on the economic feasibility of industrial investments.
  • Several years of work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of carrying out research work, including being abreast of modern research methods and technologies.
  • Experience with Dymola and TIL-suite is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

This team, a mix of approximately 10 people are occupied in Industrial Heat Technology with a clear ambition to make the activity grow to double that size in 5 years. Application process

You can apply till 26th of January 2020. Once the initial selection round based on your CV and letter of motivation is completed, a selected group of candidates is interviewed in a video interview or for local candidates on site. This first round of interviews is scheduled on 3rd of February. 
Generally after this step up to five candidates are invited for face-to-face interviews with the manager and future colleagues to further discuss your experience, their expectations and cultural fit. A presentation of relevant work and or experience for a selected group of experts and potential co-workers is generally expected. After a positive selection, we will finish off the process by discussing terms and conditions of employment. We try to complete the interviews and assessment within 4 weeks.
