As a PV systems modeling engineer you work on optimizing PV applications. In addition to yield, we also optimise other relevant added values such as biodiversity in the subsoil and irradiation.

What will be your role?

As a PV systems modeling engineer you will focus on answering optimization and comprehensive questions for PV systems. This could involve the calculation of a new variant with existing models, but sometimes expansion and adjustment of the models is required. You are responsible for setting up the logic of the model. In doing so, you anticipate possible follow-up questions, thus enabling structural development of expansions. And you are able to transfer this to colleagues. In addition, you are constantly looking for causes of discrepancies between expectation, model and measurement.
You work in the Solar Energy department. We develop materials, processes and applications to enhance the impact of solar energy. Examples include the integration of solar panels in buildings, infrastructure and vehicles, new types of solar cells and panels, coloured PV panels that blend in with the landscape, and combining solar meadows with agriculture. External clients comprise partners in research consortia or commercial parties whereas internal research questions are formulated from the Solar Energy Roadmap.

What we expect from you

You are able to turn qualitative questions into numerical models. They can be optical, electrical or yield related; you feel comfortable working on any of them. You are able to analyse the results and draw sharp, well-formulated conclusions from them, which you report in projects or in papers you publish. You have a clear overview of the work field, or are able to develop this, and use it to generate ideas for follow-up work and elaborate this in acquisitions. You have an affinity with designing software and drawing up functional specifications for software. You are well-acquainted with software development and can act as point of contact for the group. You have experience with steering colleagues with regard to content and you are a real team player.
In addition, we expect you to possess the following competences and experience:
  • MSc in the field of electrical engineering, physics or mathematics.
  • A track record of more than five years in developing and publishing about computer models.
  • Experience with contributing to acquisition proposals and planning within a project and project-based environment.
