What will you be doing?

The work of the Energy Transition Studies group in the field of energy and society is currently growing in terms of attention and scope. That is why we are looking for a researcher who will join our team on the theme of ‘human-driven sustainability of the built environment’.

You work independently and in a team on complex research projects in the field of sustainability in the Netherlands and the impact on players (such as residents, municipalities, local energy initiatives and providers). You investigate the role of the energy transition in people’s daily lives, what it can mean for them, and how it can help them or, on the contrary, hinder them. You are interested in the dynamics between health, work and the energy transition, and how the transitions on these themes can reinforce each other. So as to improve people’s lives. You are interested in investigating how to apply energy justice at local, regional, national and EU level. You work on projects in areas such as natural gas-free neighbourhoods and smart grids.

Sub-tasks include clarifying/articulating the research questions, designing and conducting innovative forms of research, performing analyses, managing and collaborating with (international) teams, reporting and communicating about the results, both within and outside the organisation. In addition, you are expected to contribute to acquisitions and research proposals on the basis of your own experience, network and expertise, in line with the unit’s strategic research lines. As a researcher at the intersection of science and practical application, you will have contact with a wide range of parties, from professors to consultants, from residents to policymakers.
