What will be your role?

The European Union offers TNO and important network and a significant flow of funding for our knowledge development. The new program Horizon Europe is a very important instrument to achieve our ambitions, together with European partners. The EU Team follows developments in the EU and translate these developments into opportunities for TNO. On the one hand, we work on the research & innovation policy in Europe. On the other, we work on specific research themes on which TNO wants to position itself in European collaborations.

The EU Team has as ambition to inform, unburden as well as enrich the work of the colleagues researchers in EU context. Researchers work on EU proposals and projects. To be successful in these projects, focus om Impact, Valorization, Dissemination and Communication is increasingly important. This will be the core of your internships: to support the colleagues researchers in these aspects of their work by identifying Best Practices, internally and externally, developing guidelines on how to address these aspects of their work in the best way.

You work with the EU Team of the Corporate Strategy department. This team consists of the Director of European Affairs, to whom you also report, the Director of Knowledge Programming & Government Relations, our EU Policy Officer in Brussels and the EU Managers of TNO’s nine research Units.

What we expect from you

You feel at home in the European context. You understand the European work field and have an affinity with innovation, technology, research and policy. You are naturally interested and enjoy working in a diverse and challenging environment.

Other expectations:
  • Bachelor study in European studies, Political science or related study.
  • Knowledge of European files in innovation and research is an advantage.
  • Good communication skills in Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience in international context is an advantage.
  • Available in Q1/Q2 2022.
