Internship | Integrated radome for lens antenna array systems
How can low-profile radome be designed for lens antenna array system with a quasi-hemispherical field of view?
What will be your role?
Wide scanning-angle phased array antennas are widely applied in radars and communication (SATCOM, 5G, etc.) systems. TNO developed a low profile lens phased antenna array, which allows to cover quasi-hemispherical field of view. This antenna system when mounted in the operative environment (aircraft, boats, satellite, etc…) needs to be protected by a radome. The current radome designs for hemispherical field of view result bulky solutions, making them unpractical in several applications where low drag and weight are crucial issues (air terminal, satellite, etc…). The main goal of this project is to study a low profile radome solution for lens antenna array without affecting its wide field of view.
The Department of Radar Technology is a passionate and creative group of professionals (60 people) dedicated to the specification, development and evaluation of innovative, high-performance MMICs, miniaturised and integrated RF subsystems, antennas and front-ends. The department is at the heart of novel, game-changing radar system and signal processing concepts for the military, space and civil domains.
