Internship | Graduation internship on the topic of Digital Built Environment

About this position

Do you want to play a part in the digital transformation of the built environment? At TNO Mobility & Built Environment (MBE) we work on tangible solutions for major social issues to create a safe and sustainable built environment. With increasing traffic loads on our water and road networks, the persisting housing shortages, greenhouse gas emission issues and the ongoing major transitions for energy and climate, it is more urgent than ever to develop and apply digital tools that can help in solving those issues.

What will be your role?

You will:

  • Research the topic of digitalization in the built environment with special focus on BIM, Digital Twins and Linked Data
  • Work and learn from the industry experts in the field of Digital Build Environment
  • Familiarize yourself with approaches for data modelling, data analysis, data visualization process and workflows to develop data architectures.
  • Apply your knowledge on standards, data security, application landscapes to create guidelines on how to correctly save, access and reuse information
  • Learn how to perform, document, and present your own research.

What we expect from you

  • An ongoing or an obtained university degree with technical background, such as building technology, civil engineering, or mechanical engineering with specialization in IT
  • You are familiar with BIM and open BIM standards
  • You have an interest in Data, Analytics and Digital Twin and want to explore how Digital Engineering is shaping up the Built Environment Industry's future.
  • You are familiar with Linked Data and Fair Data Principles and want to learn more about it
  • You enjoy developing innovative solutions to technically challenging problems and have the right mix of intellectual curiosity and pragmatism
  • You are a team player, flexible and agile.
