RF systems engineer | The Hague

Contributing to the design of digital systems for RF and microwave sensors. Envision it. Become RF Systems Engineer at TNO in The Hague.

About this position

Radar systems are indispensable in the modern world. Whether for naval vessels, military drones or self-driving vehicles, radars provide a reliable picture of the environment, day and night and in all weather conditions. TNO possesses exceptional knowledge in the field of radar technology. If you are up to being challenged in an environment that is among the top in the world and if you are excited at the prospect of working with experienced colleagues on the design of digital systems for RF and microwave sensors. Then this might be your chance! We offer a stimulating environment with world-renowned experts and career opportunities that match what you do best - today and in the future.

What will be your role?

Technology is changing extremely fast, resulting in new threats to the safety of our society but also in chances to realize what was not possible before. An example is the possibility to create very compact radar systems, light enough to be mounted under a small drone, to scan a terrain before you enter it.

As a RF System Engineer you will translate theoretical concepts into practical systems to prove the concept and show the added value to the end user. You will be designing RF and microwave circuits, modules and systems for radar applications, but more in general for sensor systems which can include tele-communication and other techniques.

You will work at the Radar Technology department within the Defense, Safety and Security unit of TNO. At the Radar Technology department, we passionately work on technological breakthroughs for state-of-the-art RF sensor systems. More information on the department can be found here: Radar technology | TNO.

Edwin Harmsma

“After completing my Master’s degree in Software Engineering & Distributed Systems, I had the choice of doing a PhD or going straight into industry. I opted for TNO because of its links to the academic world and the research freedom it offers. There are so many different projects here that there are always opportunities to embark in a totally different direction.”
