Scientist Energy Systems and Markets | Amsterdam

Contributing to the world of tomorrow. Envision it. Become a Scientist Energy Systems and Markets at TNO in Amsterdam.

About this position

Are you interested in supporting the energy transition? Do you want to use innovative modeling energy tools and collaborate with colleagues who are top experts in the field? Do you want to build a great scientific career and work in applied research? Then TNO might be for you.

What will be your role?

As a scientist you will be part of a team working on various projects in the field of energy systems and sector coupling models. The goal of this work is to support decision-making for a low-carbon energy transition in the Netherlands and Europe. In this position you have an essential role in collecting and assessing technical and economic data on electricity, transport, heating, industry and related technologies; in using these data to conduct research with (optimization) energy system models; and in analyzing and reporting the results. You will also play a proactive role in initiating new research projects.

TNO's "Energy Transition Studies" (ETS) research group conducts an interdisciplinary research program dedicated to energy transition. ETS focuses on the challenges for the energy system, for different energy consuming sectors and for society as a whole to reduce CO2 emissions to net zero by 2050. ETS studies the physical, technological and economic changes required for the energy transition, as well as its institutional and social aspects. Both national and international research projects are carried out and ETS cooperates intensively with universities, consultants, governments, companies and other research institutions. ETS supports ministries in the Netherlands, evaluates the energy and climate policies of the European Union and conducts analyses for numerous international organizations and countries worldwide. ETS develops and applies national and international integrated evaluation models, energy market models and sector-specific models.
