Technology Transfer Officer | The Hague

Building new businesses and ensuring that TNO technology offers solutions to society's great challenges in the fields of climate, energy, healthcare and security. Envision it. Become a Technology Transfer Officer at TNO.

About this position

In TNO's Tech Transfer programme, spin-offs are established on the basis of technology and knowledge developed at TNO. In this way, TNO technology is further developed and translated into innovative products and services for the market. Not only does this generate business activity and high-quality employment, it also offers solutions to social issues. Would you like to bridge the gap between research and innovation using your knowledge and experience? In that case, the role of Technology Transfer Officer may be just right for you.

What will be your role?

The Tech Transfer programme aims to bring TNO technology to the market by issuing licenses to existing companies or by establishing spin-offs. As a Technology Transfer Officer, you will supervise teams independently and act as advisor, sparring partner and strategic conscience to the organisation. You will also take the lead in advancing the Tech Transfer programme, scout out new propositions within TNO and facilitate sessions and discussions.
As part of the Tech Transfer programme, you will assist teams in conducting market research and preparing and validating business plans and financing plans. In the process, you will advise on what is the best route to the market. Moreover, you will negotiate the deal structure with the spin-offs and strike a balance between different interests through internal stakeholder management. Together with the Tech Transfer team, you will be available for providing advice and support in the areas of IP assessment, licensing, new business development, venturing, marketing, corporate law, employment matters, financing and real estate. In this context, you will be assisted by team members with a legal background.
Successful completion of the Technology Transfer programme will result in a spin-off with a validated value proposition and a business plan. You will assess to what extent the envisaged spin-off team and the proposition are 'investor-ready' and you will guide spin-offs as they go through their first financing round. In doing so, you will actively liaise with potential investors and link them to the spin-offs. You will also represent TNO in its capacity as shareholder in our spin-offs.
