Opportunity Manager Hydrogen
Working on technological breakthroughs for upscaling electrolysis in Europe's largest hydrogen research facility. Can you envision it? Become a project manager at TNO in Petten.
About this position
Renewable hydrogen plays an important role in all energy transition scenarios and is critical in decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors. Electrolysis is the technology used to produce renewable hydrogen and sustainable chemicals, and is therefore a key enabling technology. Together with international top players from industry and academia, we accelerate innovation and implementation of water electrolysis and power-2-x. Research in which TNO is at the forefront. Are you coming to pioneer, experiment and innovate with us in our Faraday laboratory?
What will be your role?
As Opportunity Manager you are the ‘bridge’ between our Business Developers and our Scientists and Specialists. Together with Business Development, you are responsible for the development of a business lead into a research proposal, including the (sometimes complex) legal and financial administrative handling of the proposal. Of course you can rely on a full team of business, legal, scientific and technical professionals.
Crucial to reach customer satisfaction is to align with a multitude of internal and external stakeholders of the proposed projects. Your ambition is to share ownership of the project development process with the whole team, while being a pragmatic provider of solutions to maximize the impact of the project.
Your home base within TNO Energy & Materials Transition is the Sustainable Technologies for Industrial Processes research group in Petten. A diverse and growing team with over fifteen nationalities of different age and with a lot of expertise. Your colleagues have backgrounds in physics, chemical engineering, materials science, electrochemistry and project management. Each and every one of us operates on the edge of our knowledge level, which makes the work fun and challenging.
At TNO you are never alone. You often have different colleagues and external partners around you. This requires good collaboration and communication skills. You also understand the art of looking beyond what is already there. You dare to take new paths and thus contribute to solutions for the energy transition that did not exist yesterday or weren’t even conceivable.
What we expect from you
You are an open minded, enthusiastic, creative and result driven person. You are a good listener and are capable to translate a business lead into a SMART project plan. You have a talent for taking charge of administrative requirements of complex mixed funding projects and enjoy using your communication and organizational skills to effectively align stakeholders in the project development process, possibly shown by a sprouting track record in business development and/or project management.
You are able to work in multi-disciplinary teams and can switch easily between different tasks among projects. You are comfortable to work in a multi-national gender balanced team.
- Master’s degree or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Material Sciences, Chemistry, Applied Physics or equivalent.
- Some experience in managing interests of multiple stakeholders would be an recommendation.
- Good oral and written communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of the Dutch language or willing to learn Dutch at the highest NT2 level.
