Senior Developer GeoData | Utrecht
Contributing to the energy transition and the climate with the latest technology. Envision it. Become a Senior Developer GeoData at TNO in Utrecht.
About this position
The Dutch subsurface plays a major role in the energy transition. How? Take, for example, underground storage of renewable energy in former gas fields or the extraction of geothermal heat. All major energy and climate themes require access to more and more data with an increasing number of applications. As a senior developer at TNO, you will develop front-end and back-end services for the information needs of researchers, governments, and commercial parties. You can also focus on database technology. You decide, because we are looking for two senior developers with a passion for the latest technologies and a great interest in geodata!
What will be your role?
As a senior developer, you will contribute to TNO’s statutory duties in the field of the subsurface, such as for the Key Registry of the Subsurface (Basisregistratie Ondergrond or BRO) and the Mining Act. In a DevOps team, you will build various portals, databases, applications and other services that help the Netherlands improve, including, for example, the BROloket. Your range is very broad: from information systems to permit applications. You will improve existing functionality, add visualisation, for example, and continually develop new applications. Would you prefer to focus on databases? In that case, you will bridge the gap between relational technology and NoSQL for the migration of old and the development of new databases.
As a senior developer, you will have a firm base in one of the three development teams of GeoData & IT at Geological Survey of the Netherlands. In your team you will work closely together with your colleagues, including developers, testers, the product owner and scrum master. Based on your seniority, you will quickly take a leading position and help more junior colleagues to grow. No matter who you ask, your colleagues will unanimously agree: you will be joining a great team with people who like to buckle down and help each other. Your DevOps team is self-managing, and you actively seek each other out with questions and ideas. Job satisfaction is definitely part of the deal!
