About this position
With fossil fuel prices spiralling out of control, accelerating the energy transition is more urgent than ever. And offshore wind energy is becoming increasingly important for a CO2-free system. Higher efficiency and lower costs are crucial for our partners, such as wind farm developers and operators, wind turbine manufacturers, and maintenance companies. To achieve this, as an offshore wind logistics consultant and scientist at TNO, you will work at the forefront of technological innovation. What will be your role?
You’ll be working in multiple project teams on (conducting) applied research. Your focus depends on your interests. You can work on projects focused on optimising the logistics of offshore wind farms, on the possibilities of robotisation and automation, or on developing new technology. To realise your vision, you’ll initiate and develop proposals, for which you work closely with our partners: top international companies, governments, and leading universities. In addition, you’ll give presentations and represent TNO at conferences.
The Wind Energy Expert Group's internationally diverse team is your home base. Your more than 50 highly qualified colleagues share the ambition to take offshore wind energy production to the next level and to integrate it into an eventual CO2-free energy system. We have high-tech research facilities in Petten and Delft, where we work together on many different themes.This is where we share our knowledge and welcome your innovative ideas. What we expect from you
Working at the interface of research and pragmatic, economically feasible solutions for the wind energy domain gives you energy. You enjoy taking the initiative and initiating projects to realise your vision, for which your entrepreneurial nature and networking skills come in handy. You also know how to deal with cultural differences and sensitivities. And with your communication and presentation skills, you can identify the client’s questions and convince clients, partners and teams of your ideas. Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:
- A master's or PhD in a relevant technical field, such as engineering management, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics or energy technology.
- Experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of offshore wind farms.
- Experience in software development and preferably with MATLAB, C#, Python. What you don't yet know, you’ll learn quickly.
- Great interest in topics such as life cycle analysis for environmental impact assessments, as such topics play a major role in the ultimate success of wind energy.
- Good command of English as you’ll be working in international teams and with international partners.

We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4.000,- and € 6.000,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). The selection process
The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
