Stage | Ontology Matching in the Labour Market domain using NLP and Hybrid AI techniques
About this position
Do you want to make impact on the labour market? Do you like a challenge in Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Engineering and Hybrid AI?
What will be your role?
TNO is convinced that matching on skills instead of diplomas is the way forward. With our team we contribute to this transition by developing solutions to capture and map knowledge models on occupations, skills and qualifications and to support semi-automatic evolution of such knowledge models based on the continuously changing context.
In your thesis, you will pick up one of the sub challenges described in this paper. You can work on the challenge itself with the dataset (https://gitlab.com/tno-os/dynamic-ontology-matching-challenge), or work with other data, such as the Dutch CompetentNL. The goal will be to map ontologies / skills / occupancies from one version or one ontology to another, in an as good as possible manner (which might involve interaction with a user).
During the internship, you will the project with other colleagues from the department. You will be expected to do literature research on the given topic and contribute your own ideas. You will then have to develop a certain proof-of-concept and do some experiments. Finally, you will be expected to document your findings in a report and then present it to your colleagues.
The internship will take place as a task within the knowledge representation and hybrid AI team of the department of Data Science. We offer graduation assignments (master thesis) of 6 to 9 months, preferably starting in or just after the summer of 2023 (earlier or later is discussable).
