What will be your role?

TNO’s business unit Energy & Materials Transition (EMT) is looking for a senior scientist LCA and integrated impact models.

TNO is conducting research into circular building & infrastructure, circular manufacturing industry, circular consumer goods, renewable energy, and circular plastics, from scenario analysis, predictive and impact models, innovative designs to the development of innovative recycling technologies. For the transition towards circular economy TNO takes the entire value chain into account, including a.o. the influence on CO2 emissions and material consumption to health effects and economic feasibility. We combine our Life Cycle Analysis and Life Cycle Costing expertise with deep technological expertise of recycling technologies also available in other research groups.

You will be part of and expand a high quality network of research partners, knowledge centers and industry partners. You have a demonstrated and strong scientific understanding of impact assessments and environmental and socio-economic impact methods. With the multi-disciplinary team you develop new and improved methodologies to implement circularity in LCA and bring additional experience with respect to social LCA and economic impact and develop high level proposals for national and international programs.

What we expect from you

  • You have a background in industrial ecology or environmental sciences and a PhD in modelling of impact assessment or LCA development;
  • You have relevant experience, at least 3 years, in advising governments and industry partners ion sustainability and circular economy and used to work in complex multi-level stakeholder groups;
  • An active network in scientific communities working on LCA development;
  • Your experience show you master the combination of methodological knowledge (hybrid modelling, scenarios) and developing new tools and methods to monitor, evaluate and predict the transition to a more sustainable and circular economy;
  • Your communication, collaborative and leadership skills are excellent.

We offer a gross monthly salary between € 5.365,- and € 7.163,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). The selection process
