What will be your role?
Innovator of the Future: Innovation at Your Fingertips
As the "Innovator of the Future," you have the space to explore creative and innovative concepts that have the potential to reshape the landscape of mobile network technology. Think of challenging projects such as:
- Energy-Efficient Networks: Research and develop architectural concepts that not only maximize performance but also strive for energy efficiency in a world of growing connectivity.
- Future-Proof Architectures: Devise and design architectural models robust enough to handle the complex demands of future use cases, such as augmented reality and IoT.
Standardization Visionary: Your Global Influence
In the role of "Standardization Visionary," you will contribute to shaping international standards for the future of mobile technologies. Sample projects include:
- 6G Standardization: Take a leading role in European collaborations such as the Hexa-X-II flagship project, where you contribute to the definition of 6G use cases and technical solutions.
- Creating Standards: Collaborate with experts from other companies worldwide to get your requirements and solutions accepted into technical specifications that serve as industry guidelines.
Implementation Strategist: From Theory to Reality
As an "Implementation Strategist," you bring technologies to life by implementing and testing them in real-world scenarios. Practical implementations might include:
- 5G field labs in which TNO participates and conducts research, as well as our own 5G testbed. Implement and test mobile network technologies in real-world conditions, such as for automotive applications, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance optimization.
- Smart Agriculture Trials: Apply mobile technologies in specific sectors like the agricultural industry, investigating the impact of mobile networks on processes such as greenhouse construction and harvesting.
What we expect from you
At TNO Department of Networks, expertise is important, but personal skills also make a difference. We value:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in software development, network architecture, or similar technical expertise.

The selection process
Please apply before the 15th of October, 2023. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. The preliminary interview takes place on the 26th of October, 2023. The second interview round has been scheduled for the 2nd of November, 2023. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.
A certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.
