Data analytics engineer Circular Economy | Utrecht

Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Data analytics engineer Circular Economy at TNO in Utrecht!

What will be your role?

Data may be collected from a wide variety of public and commercial databases, literature and internet sources. The needed data sets will be specified, curated and constructed in close contact with the other colleagues who will be using these data, often in various modeling and evaluation projects. Processing, storage and visualization of the results of these evaluations may also be part of the activities.

Together with the integral team of data and modeling experts this data will translate into mathematical models to make statements about the circularity of society, incl. products and processes, thus making a crucial contribution to the transition to a circular economy. These are socially relevant issues that TNO investigates in projects and consortia.

We are looking for a data analytics engineer who has a keen interest in sustainability and circular economy, and has an interest in understanding the connection between the qualitative and quantitative world. Together with internal and external parties, you will shape the development and expansion of a database structure. This also means that part of your work involves writing high-quality project proposals and scientific articles with others and working closely together with scientists from the areas of circular plastics, microplastics, circular electronics and critical raw materials.

  • You have proven experience with retrieving, harmonising, organising and storing large datasets. You can help to manage and set-up a data infrastructure for the data and modelling team.
  • You are a proficient programmer, preferably in R and Python, with expertise in distributed (cloud-based) computation. Experience with agile working (Scrum & Gitlab) is a plus
