Internship | Build a Digital Replica of Grasslands using an AI Foundation Model

About this position

Foundation Models are the new frontier to explore novel digital twins. In our Biodiversity Digital Twin project, we need to model grassland growth given different input and output modalities in a single Machine Learning model. We have the data but we need to develop a Digital Twin Foundation Model that will allow users to interact via these modalities. This role involves deep engagement with large-scale Machine Learning models that serve as the backbone for a variety of AI applications, including natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics.

What will be your role?

Join our project team to develop, train and refine a Foundation Model on different modalities, ensuring it is robust, efficient, and ethically sound. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong drive to deliver a tangible result. Apply for this internship if you are keen to develop and optimise large-scale ML models, implement and experiment with different NN architectures, finetune or adapt pre-existing FMs, and analyse and pre-process large datasets.

What we expect from you

You are enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics or a related field. You have a good theoretical understanding and some practical experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Statistical or Generative Modelling. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks like PyTorch is a plus. A demonstrated ability to work on complex problems and translate research into practical solutions with excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills is also highly valued.
